PCR Lab

The Covid-19 PCR laboratory was established on January 10, 2078, and it conducts on-site testing and prepares reports through the National Public Health Laboratory. Testing permission was granted on January 15, 2078, and since then, it has been consistently providing services to the service recipients. Previously, this method was only used for research purposes, but now it is being used for diagnostic testing. Among the five government hospitals in Gandaki Province, this laboratory is ranked second in terms of capacity. Its current testing capacity is 500 to 600 tests per day, but it is currently conducting 10 to 12 sample tests daily. The laboratory is divided into five subunits: Extraction, Mastermix, Record Reporting, Sterilization, and Donning and Doffing. So far, it has successfully participated in three rounds of Proficiency Testing (PT) and achieved 100% results. Every month, until the 10th, it sends 10 positive and 5 negative samples for External Quality Assessment (EQAS) to the National Public Health Laboratory, and it has achieved 100% excellence so far.

In the future, this laboratory can also be developed as a center for HIV Viral Load, Influenza PCR, Bacteriul PCR, and research purposes. Currently, this laboratory has served around 18,600 individuals. It currently has two medical laboratory technologists and one office assistant working in it.
